As a follow-up of an experience in the InnoAquaTech project (Interreg South Baltic), on the basis of the infrastructure, knowledge, competences and cooperation, Institute Of Oceanography, University of Gdańsk prepares further experiments within the framework of AquaVIP including shrimps and algae cultivation.
The video: Experimental RAS shrimps cultivation (Litopenaeus vannamei) was created during 2019 experiments within InnoAqauTech, and shows what has been done in the Institute of Oceanography to give the basis of further actions within experiments on RAS applications, regarding infrastructure, research, education and cooperation. Our InnoAquaTech pilot – Farming shrimp in Poland: Increasing the potential of RAS – was the first experimental scale RAS cultivation of Litopenaeus vannamei shrimps in Poland and brought a lot of new knowledge to researchers, students and our business partners.
Through new AquaVIP experiments, education and networking activities directed to aquaculture students of the University of Gdańsk, partners and other institutions from the South Baltic area, as well as professionals from the innovative aquaculture sector we will further develop the potential of innovative and sustainable aquaculture in the region.
More on our findings on RAS cultivation of Litopenaeus vannamei can be found on our shrimp portal (in Polish), and in the technical report prepared under InnoAquaTech framework (University of Gdańsk & National Marine Fisheries Research Institute) : Evaluation of potential of crustacean production in RAS in Pomerania.
